Dr. Judith Giesberg and I advocate for a statue to honor Caroline Le Count in Philadelphia in the Philadelphia Citizen. It’s a small start to commemorate the impact of Black women on our City. For a fuller picture of the lives of these women throughout our City’s history, check out the recent book, They Carried Us.
You may remember Dr. Giesberg from Episodes 3 and 4 on Philadelphia during the Civil War. She is the Humanities Chair at Villanova University and is the director of the online digital projects for the Institute for Colored Youth Library Exhibit, Memorable Days: Emilie Davis Diaries, and the Last Seen genealogy website.
I’m honored to be her co-author! And I hope the article gets people thinking, reading, and, hopefully, acting.
Is the podcast still being done? Thank you.
Dear Ann,
